Joy Mall considers herself a living miracle. When she was four months old she contracted Poliomyelitis and was given no hope of survival. However, defying all odds, she did survive by the grace of God. However she was never able to walk.
In 1975 she relocated to the U.S from India. Shortly after her arrival she developed a desire to become both a voice and a resource for the marginalized in the disability community in the U.S, India and South Asia.
Her goal is to raise disability awareness in the U.S and abroad. Joy serves as a ministry associate of Joni and Friends International. Here she regularly serves at Family Retreat and Wheels for the World. Her role is to minister to families with disability, distribute wheelchairs and share Gods love in developing countries. Joy has been an intrinsic part of South Asian Friendship Center where she helped develop and oversee the ESL and Disability Program. While there, she helped train volunteers and minister to women and families in difficult circumstances.
Armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Disabilities and Human Developments, Joy travels into the small unnoticed villages in India. Her love and devotion to those without hope is a testimony to Gods love and mans determination. Her desire is to spur others to help open up doors of opportunity to those who have limited hope for a future.
Her words are both inspirational and convicting. Everyone faces limitations in the course of a lifetime. However life is a series of choices and one can either face the personal challenge directly or allow it to restrict their potential. In my life, I refuse to allow my disability to be the barrier that determines my future. So join with me and embrace my vision of A World Without Barriers.
