Most Christian parents will admit to being somewhat intimidated by the weighty responsibility Scripture places on us. Our task is outlined in simple terms by verses like Proverbs 22:6 ” Train up a child in the way he should go”, and Ephesians 6:4;”Bring [your children] up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.”
Teaching spiritual truth to children is a joy. No one is more receptive, more hungry to learn, or more trusting than a child. Chances are, you’ll never find more eager disciples than your own children. Don’t squander the opportunity.
And these words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).
The task of Harvest Christian Center children ministry is summed up biblically in the following verses:
Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will never depart from it”,
Ephesians 6:4 “And, ye fathers provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.”
Psalm 78:4 “We will not conceal them from their children, But tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.”
Our children are hungry and very receptive to the scriptures. They are very trusting in receiving the Word and we believe parents should take the opportunity to instruct them.
HCC’s Children’s Ministry exists to help plant the seeds of God’s love in each child’s heart. Our teachers strive to:
Create a ministry where children will be excited about their walk with Christ.
Foster an atmosphere where God will be glorified through children.
Engage the children in age appropriate, fun activities, kids conferences, field trips and more.
We seek to nurture all children in ways that will keep them on a spiritual path that will take them beyond their childhood years, through teaching God’s word and relying on the Holy Spirit as our guide. We hope to bring kids into a radical and relevant relationship with Jesus Christ.
